Corporal punishment

Corporal punishment is one thing that shouldn't be allowed in schools. Corporal punishment shouldn't be allowed because some teachers might abuse it, and also because in my school the teachers want us to know that school is for both education and also to have fun. If corporal punishment existed in the school the fun would not exist and a child would be afraid to be their self. Also if teachers were using corporal punishment the student's would sit in class like a statue and not a human being because the child would be afraid of doing something wrong.
Corporal punishment started out in the 11Th century and continued to the 20Th century. During these times countries that enforced the punishment were Greece, Rome, Egypt, Ancient Kingdom of Israel and Sparta. Sparta had one of the most extreme uses of Corporal Punishment. They thought the punishment built will power and physical strength. They'd use a whip and give a student exactly 39 lashes on the back or shoulders. This would cause blood, and it would sometimes be done in public.
Up to modern days, 22 states in the U.S.A continue to allow the use of corporal punishment. The 22 states include: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Wyoming. Due to the percentage of Corporal punishment used during 2002-2003 these states were ranked the top 10 worst states: Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Georgia, Texas, Missouri, and Kentucky. Luckily, Corporal Punishment was banned in the U.S three years ago. However, it still exists in many countries.
When teachers use corporal punishment, they use weapons. Some of the weapons they use are whips/switches, rulers and paddles. I myself wonder why a teacher has to hit a student when they know the child is being hurt. I am completely against Corporal Punishment and I feel it should be banned throughout the whole world. A teacher shouldn't have to hit a child to gain respect.

Corporal Punishment

This is my social studies project on corporal punishment , and how I think that teachers shouldn't need to use corporal punishment to get a child to listen, behave or give respect no matter how bad or disrespectful the child can be.
